Bye Rounds Brownlow Tips, Round 12 2019

We are halfway through the 2019 AFL Season and we have a clear favourite for the Flag after Geelong Thumped Richmond at the MCG last Friday Night.

The Cats are two games clear of Collingwood on the 2019 AFL Ladder and will now almost certainly finish on top, unless they get a dreaded injury run.

There is also now an outright leader for the Brownlow Medal Predictor after 12 Rounds. Despite his team only winning the 2 Games, Patrick Cripps continues to feature in the best players on the ground.

Richmond vs Geelong

Richmond 5.7 37 – Geelong 16.8 104

1 Vote (Geelong) Tim Kelly

Kelly is having a big year and was once again one of the better Cats on the Ground. His Price Tag is also increasing as he continues to impress in the Geelong Midfield. Racked up 32 Possessions, 9 Marks and 7 Score Involvements to be one of the best Cats in a huge win over Richmond.

2 Votes (Geelong) Gary Ablett (6)

Ablett has embraced his new forward role and continues to feature as one of Geelong’s main goalkickers. He had 24 Possessions, 9 Score Involvements and kicked 2 Goals to help setup another Cats win. His pressure off the footy in this game was also significant laying 7 Tackles.

3 Votes (Geelong) Patrick Dangerfield (14)

Dangerfield had 38 Possessions in this game in which 17 were Contested. He seems to have some of that distinctive pace back, which helps evade tackles from opposing sides. 8 Inside 50s, 9 Tackles and 7 Marks made him the best player on the ground.

Carlton vs Brisbane

Carlton 11.12 78 – Brisbane 9.9 63

A comeback win under a new coach and it was their top pick from last year that impressed in the midfield.

14 of his 32 Possessions were contested and he kicked the ball 23 times. A Disposal Efficiency of 81% throughout the game along with 12 Marks made him a noticeable contributor. Also had the 6 Clearances and should feature in the votes in this game.

2 Votes (Carlton) Ed Curnow (2)

A solid game all around from Curnow with the 8 Clearances and 9 Tackles. He also had 7 Score Involvements and racked up 30 Possessions in a victory under new coach David Teague.

3 Votes (Carlton) Patrick Cripps (19)

Cripps continues to impress and this was one of the best individual games of the season.

16 of his 38 Disposals were contested and he used the footy at 82% Efficiency. Also racked up 8 Clearances, 7 Marks and 9 Score Involvements. Midfielders kicking goals is always a contributor factor on Brownlow Night and Cripps finished with 4, in a huge Carlton win over the Lions.

Gold Coast vs North Melbourne

Gold Coast 11.6 72 – North Melbourne 14.15 99

1 Vote (Gold Coast) Jarrod Harbrow (4)

Harbrow may not poll in this game, but some of his numbers would suggest he should.

The Suns lost the game, but Harbrow was the best defender out there. 23 of his 27 Possessions were kicks and he used the footy at 78% Efficiency. The Significant stats were his 12 Intercept Possessions and 10 Rebound 50s, which may very well go noticed in this match.

2 Votes (North Melbourne) Ben Cunnington (12)

Cunnington is probably having his best ever year and was once again one of the best players on the ground.

23 of his 31 Possessions were contested and he managed a ridiculous, 14 Clearances in this victory. Also, put the ball Inside 50 on 7 occasions, to more than likely poll in a big win.

3 Votes (North Melbourne) Jack Ziebell (6)

Ziebell had a big game and managed to kick a couple of goals in the midfield.

Half of his 28 Possessions were contested and his pressure, with 10 Tackles, was a strong contributor in the win. Also had 8 Clearances and 8 Inside 50s, to more than likely get the three votes.

Adelaide vs GWS

Adelaide 12.10 82 – GWS 9.7 61

1 Vote (Adelaide) Matt Crouch (4)

The Crouch Brothers were at it again in Adelaide and really helped set up a win against the Giants. Matt had 34 Possessions, took 7 Marks and had 6 Clearances to have a significant impact in this contest.

2 Votes (GWS) Tim Taranto (8)

Taranto is fast becoming one of the best players at GWS and he was their best player in this game. 36 Possessions, 6 Score Involvements and 7 Clearances made him the most significant contributor for GWS in Adelaide. He was also good defensively with 7 Tackles.

3 Votes (Adelaide) Brad Crouch (11)

Brad Crouch collected 30 Disposals, had 7 Clearances and 9 Score Involvements to be the most damaging player on the ground. Played a big part when the game was on the line in the fourth quarter, to help setup a much needed Crows victory.

Sydney vs West Coast

Sydney 18.8 116 – West Coast 10.11 71

(Sydney by 45 Points)

1 Vote (Sydney) Dane Rampe (1)

Rampe had a big game down back and his 32 Possessions were at 94% Efficiency, which is elite.

He also took 12 Marks and had 11 Rebound 50s to be the best defender on the ground, and made it tough for the talented West Coast Forwards.

2 Votes (Sydney) Lance Franklin (2)

This was Franklins best game of the year and he racked up a total of 13 Score Involvements to go along with his 5 Goals. All but one of his 18 Possessions were kicks, and he racked up 9 Marks, to be a real handful for the West Coast Defenders.

3 Votes (Sydney) Tom Papley (3)

Watching this game Papley just seemed everywhere and the stats sheet showed such dominance.

The majority of his 27 Disposals came on the offensive half and he racked up an incredible 16 Score Involvements to go along with his 5 Goals. Also took 7 Marks and had 5 Inside 50s, to be a clear Best on Ground.

Collingwood vs Melbourne

Collingwood 15.8 98 – Melbourne 7.15 57

(Collingwood by 41 Points)

1 Vote (Collingwood) Jaidyn Stephenson (2)

Stephenson should get all 3 in this game, but Treloar did win the medal for Best on Ground.

Every time Collingwood went forward ,it seemed Stephenson was thereabouts and he had a big day racking up 11 Score Involvements and kicking 3 Goals. Also had 19 Disposals and 9 Marks to be the best forward on the ground in a big win at the MCG on a Monday.

2 Votes (Melbourne) Max Gawn (9)

Gawn won the ruck battle against Grundy and also won a lot of the footy.

19 of his 34 Possessions were Contested and he racked up 10 Clearances and 9 Score Involvements, in massive display in the ruck.

3 Votes (Collingwood) Adam Treloar (10)

Treloar won the medal and was the best Magpies Midfielder for most of the contest.

His 34 Possessions resulted in a lot of metres gained and he had 6 Score Involvements, 5 Tackles and 5 Clearances ,to more than likely be the best player on the ground.
