Only the one match has no significance on the overall standings and that game features Lithuania playing the Dominican Republic. The Lithuanians were on the wrong end of a no-call late in their loss to France and their coach had no problems in letting the press know. Let’s hope we don’t see more incorrect decisions as the competition starts to heat up.

The Czech Republic and Greece will fight it out for a spot in Group K, and the Brazil team will be looking to stay alive against the USA.

Perhaps the most intriguing match will be France taking on Australia to finish on the top of Group L, and avoid a match with the USA in the next round.

Dominican Republic vs Lithuania

Prediction – Lithuania (Win)

The Dominican Republic has caused some teams headaches in this tournament and continued that in their 76-82 loss to Austalia.

Their upset 70-68 win over Germany has been the standout for them in the competition and kept their hopes alive until the loss to Australia.

Lithuania were one of the fancied teams to go deep in the tournament and didn’t get a lot of luck with the officials late in their 78-75, loss to France. Jonas Valanciunas tried his heart out, but couldn’t get it done and the Lithuanians are now out of the tournament.

They will want to finish as high as they can and will make it tough for the Dominican Republic. Lithuania may win this game and crank up the defence, and the Game Total would be favoured to go under the number.

Czech Republic vs Greece

Prediction – Greece (Win)

Game Total Under 156.5

The winner of this match will have a decent chance of getting through to the next round, provided that Brazil does not upset the USA.

Greece is coming off a 69-53 loss to the USA, and on the back of 20 Points and 9 Assists from Tomas Satoransky, the Czech Republic made easy work of an older Brazil team, 93-71.

The key to this game will be how the Greeks use Giannas Antetokounmpo as he has only averaged 15.5 Points Per Game so far in the tournament. If they let him take the game on and do what he likes, then it may very well go a long way to winning this game and advancing.

Both sides have been playing decent basketball and won’t want to go home early. The NBA MVP factor could be significant in the latter stages of this contest and the Greeks will be favoured to win this game in a high defensive intensity match.

Greece to win and the Game Total to go under.

France vs Australia

Prediction – Australia (Win)

The reward for the winner of this match is to finish on top of Group L and avoid the USA in the next round to advance.

In one way France was lucky to beat Lithuania because of a non-referee call, but they played well and managed to win the game 78-75.

The Australians were tested by the Dominican Republic, most of their game, but came out on top 82-76.

The Aussies seem to lift as the competition gets more difficult and will know they can match it with anybody after their defeat of the United States, in a warm-up game in Australia.

These two sides met at the 2016 Olympics and it was the Aussies that came out on top, winning 87-66, on the back of 21 points from Patty Mills. Tony Parker led the French team with 18 Points that game and Evan Fournier didn’t play.

Rudy Gobert is a big advantage for the French, but the Aussies have Andrew Bogut and Aron Baynes so they will be able to contain him. It may be the shooters that get it done here and it will be fun to watch one of the best shooters in the world Nando De Colo and Evan Fournier, go up against Patty Mills and Joe Ingles.

Both sides will bring it defensively and the Game Total may go under. It’s tough to pick a winner, but on their last clash at 2016 Olympics, the Aussies may have the edge here.

USA vs Brazil

Prediction – USA (Win)

Game Total Over 164.5

The last game of the day sees the USA take on Brazil who are coming off a 71-93 loss to the Czech Republic in which fatigue may have played a part.

The USA beat Greece 69-53, and are all but certain to advance to the next round.

USA should win this game quite comfortably as the performance from Brazil in their last game would suggest that they may be tiring, and don’t have the firepower to match it with the USA.

Team USA should have no problems here and the game total should go over the number.
