NBL Saturday Tips  Round 8, January 22nd 2022

Round 8 of the NBL22 Season continues on the 22nd of January, and we have two matches to get through.

The Adelaide 36ers host Melbourne United at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, whilst the Perth Wildcats travel to Illawarra for a matchup with the Illawarra Hawks at the WIN Entertainment Centre.

Adelaide is coming off an impressive win against the Perth Wildcats last Tuesday, whilst Melbourne United was excellent against the Hawks on the back of 33 points from guard Matthew Dellavedova.

The Hawks will be looking to crank up the defence against the Wildcats and get Perth when they are a little bit out of sorts.

A decent looking day of hoops, and here are some NBL Tips and NBL Predictions for NBL Saturday Round 8 of NBL 22.

Quick Facts

  • Melbourne United is on a six game winning streak
  • Melbourne finishes off games well against the 36ers, winning every 4th quarter in their last 9 head to head matches
  • Melbourne United have won 8 out of the last 9 against the 36ers

The Adelaide 36ers came up against a fatigued Perth Wildcats side on Tuesday, but were good enough for the win.

They come up against the hottest team in the competition in this match and if Dellavedova hit shots again, it will open up Chris Goulding which makes it even tougher.

The NBL is very tough to predict at the moment, but Melbourne United look confident and will be tough to beat even though the game is in Adelaide.

Quick Facts

  • The Wildcats have not been good when coming off an away loss in recent times. They have lost 11 of their last 12 games following an away loss
  • These two sides crank up the defence against each other. The combined Game Total average for their last 5 meetings is a very low 151.6
  • Todd Blanchfield has averaged 16.4 ppg in his last 5 games against the Hawks

The Wildcats looked sluggish in their loss to Adelaide, but did come back in the latter stages of the contest to make a game of it. They will have their hands full coming up against the Illawarra Hawks, who know how to turn it on on the defensive end.

These two sides crank up the defence when they play each other so the game may be low scoring. Both sides do protect the ball well though.

The Hawks are coming off a loss and will be hungry at home.

They should get it done, but matches are tough to predict right now, and the Wildcats have two of the best scorers in the competition.

Prediction – Illawarra Hawks (Win) ⭐
