PGA Golf Picks – 3M Open 2020

This week sees the PGA Tour head to Minnesota for the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities.

Still a decent field, but not as strong as previous weeks, Matt Wolfe will be looking to defend his title.

Last week saw Spaniard John Rahm take out the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Golf Course in Dublin Ohio. Not the best finish with a final round of 3 Over Par, but he still managed to get the win and a three-shot victory. Scoring dried up on Sunday in this event, with the lowest round being from Matthew Fitzpatrick with a 68.

Check out the highlights from the final round below.

TPC Twin Cities will reward the golfers that are accurate off the tee and are generally pretty good at knocking down pins. This is a scorers golf course which showed last year when Matt Wolfe won the event on 21 Under Par. Players will be punished by water from wayward tee shots so accuracy from tee to green will go a long way to winning this.

Golf Picks Last Week

Not the best form last week, but three of the four picks made the cut. The ten that Bryson DeChambeau made on the 15th hole certainly didn’t help the cause.

Gary Woodland – T22 +3

Patrick Cantlay – T32 +4

Stewart Cink -T62 +12

Bryson DeChambeau – MC

Golf Course

TPC Twin Cities, Blaine Minnesota

Length – 7468 Yards

Previous Winner – Matthew Wolfe (-21)

Our Picks

Tony Finau

Current Odds – $15

Finished 8th last week at the Memorial Tournament and is an accurate golfer from tee to green. Finau can put it close if he gets on a streak. This golf course will reward accuracy, and Finau has the length to use his wedges to attack pins. He putted well last week and hit the ball decent. One of the favourites to be in the final few groups on Sunday.

Russell Henley

Current Odds – $34

Another solid, accurate golfer from tee to green, Henley has had a week off after a 7th place finish at the Workday Charity Open.

Last years Top 2 in this event, Wolfe and Morikawa had a lot of strokes gained from their approach shots to the green and Henley is currently ranked tenth on the PGA Tour for this stat. He can knock down pins when he is on and is a consistent golfer.

Bubba Watson

Current Odds – $34

Short Odds for Bubba Watson, but he has been hitting the ball pretty well lately, but needs to sort the putter out. After missing three cuts in a row, he may be starting to hit some form after finishing 32nd at the Memorial. Bubba knows how to win, but it is his accuracy from Tee to Green and the strokes he gained from approach shots last week that makes him a decent pick this week. All depends on what type of Bubba Watson shows up.

Outsider

Cameron Tringale

Current Odds – $151

If you are after a roughie for this event, then it may be Cameron Tringale. Missed the cut at the Workday Charity Open but finished in a tie for 30th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. He is accurate from Tee to Green, and the putter can get hot on occasions. This golf course will reward accuracy and good iron play. Can do worse for these odds.
