The last day of the group stages and a couple of fancied favourites that were projected to advance will not be making the second round of play in the 2019 Basketball World Cup.
Germany and Canada are both strong sides, but didn’t make the most of their chances and will not be advancing to the final 16 of the 2019 Basketball World Cup.

Canada vs Senegal
Prediction – Canada (Win)
Game Total Over 157.5
The Canadians haven’t made the most of their chances in this tournament and may need their NBA Stars for their next crack on the world stage. They were rarely in the game against Lithuania and lost the match 92-69.
Senegal made their game against Australia a scrappy affair and hung in there most of the match, only to lose 81-68.
Both sides cannot advance and will be playing for pride. If Senegal brings the same defensive intensity they did against the Aussies, they are a chance against Canada.
Canada has the more talented roster and should win the match in what may be a higher scoring contest.
Brazil vs Montenegro
Prediction – Brazil (Win)
Game Total Over 156.5
The Brazilians have been impressive in this tournament and are coming off an upset win over the fancied Greek team on the back of an impressive performance from the Veteran Anderson Varejao.
They are an experienced team and could go deep in this competition.
Montenegro has been disappointing and fell 83-93 to New Zealand. Their tournament is now over and it will be interesting to see if they play it out.
Brazil should win this game and the Game Total should go over.
Germany vs Jordan
Prediction – Germany (Win)
Game Total Over 154.5
Both these sides are out of the World Cup, which is surprising given that Germany was fancied to at least make it to the final 16.
They are coming off a 68-70 loss to the Dominican Republic and will be disappointed with how their tournament shaped up.
Jordan is also out and coming off a defeat to France 103-64.
Germany will have the chance to win a game here and should win it quite comfortably. The Game Total is also favoured to go over.
Turkey vs the Czech Republic
Prediction – Turkey (Win)
Game Total Under 155.5
This game could be the match of the day with both sides fighting to stay alive. Turkey blew their opportunity to defeat the USA, with 4 missed free throws, which could have iced the game. They lost 93-92 in a solid showing.
The Czech Republic got over Japan 89-76 and have been pretty good so far.
Going off the Turkey performance in their last game they should win this match with their NBA Players having a big impact so far.
Turkey to win and the game total to likely go under with so much on the line, and a lot of defensive intensity.
Lithuania vs Australia
Prediction – Lithuania (Win)
Game Total Under 165.5
Lithuania is coming off an impressive win over Canada 92-69 and they are playing well as a team. Australia looked sluggish against Senegal and will need to be on their game if they are to beat a solid Lithuanian side.
The Lithuanians look like they want to go a long way in this tournament and their big men has been playing solid basketball. The Aussies have been saved by some good shooting and an outstanding 1 Assist shy of a triple-double from Joe Ingles.
This game should be a real thriller, but Lithuania has been more impressive at this stage and should get the win, with the Game Total likely to go under.
Greece vs New Zealand
Prediction – Greece (Win)
Game Total Over 167.5
Another fight for survival game and it is hard to see Greece dropping another game they should win. New Zealand has been impressive however, and have had good supply from their shooting guard Corey Webster.
Greece is coming off a 79-78 loss to Brazil and New Zealand have been surprising so far, but remain in the hunt to advance to the next round after a 93-83 win over Montenegro.
The majority of the New Zealand games have gone over the number and it is looking likely here, but Greece should get the win.
USA vs Japan
Prediction – USA (Win)
Game Total Over 172.5
This could be the time that the USA decides to win back some respect and make a statement. They were almost beaten two nights back and Japan will have their work cut out for them.
The USA got very lucky to get the win over Turkey, but it is unlikely that a performance like that will happen again. Japan was competitive against the Czech Republic but fell 76-89.
The USA will have no trouble here and the game total should go over the number.
Dominican Republic vs France
Prediction – France (Win)
Game Total Over 153.5
Both these sides have advanced to the next round and have been impressive so far. The Dominican did well to beat Germany 70-68, and France made easy work of Jordan, 103-74.
With both sides already advancing to the next stage, the top spot will be on the line. France has a lot of NBA Talent and should be too good, but the Dominican are playing good ball.
France to win, and the Game Total to go over the number.
