Adelaide Crows vs GWS Giants

Last Meeting

Round 12 2019, Adelaide 12.10 82 – GWS 9.7 61

(Adelaide by 21 Points)

Last 5 Meetings

Adelaide – 3 Wins

GWS – 2 Wins

Last Round

The Crows finally had their first win of the season last Tuesday and made a meal of a poor Hawks outfit, winning the match by 35 Points.

The Giants came from behind against the Blues and managed to keep their finals hopes intact with a 9 point victory.

Team Changes

Just the one change for the Crows for this clash with Myles Poholke getting dropped and Andrew McPherson coming into the team.

For the Giants, Brent Daniels, Zac Williams and Harry Perryman are all out injured, and Shane Mumford has been managed. Jye Caldwell Sam Jacobs, Zac Langdon and Sam J. Reid are all coming into the side.

Current Head to Head Odds

Adelaide – $3.85

GWS – $1.30

Prediction

Considering the Giants will need the win to keep their finals hopes intact, they should get it done despite the Crows impressing last week. They may have some key outs, but still should have the talent to take care of the Crows in this clash.

The Crows surprised last week and won’t want to be taken lightly, but the Giants should win the midfield battle, and their forwards should be too dangerous.

Our Pick – GWS Giants (Win)

Player Prop – Stephen Coniglio + 82.5 Fantasy Points

The Crows give up the second most fantasy points to opposition midfielders and Coniglio will spend the majority of the game at stoppages. Needs to find some form if they are to play finals and this is a good opportunity against a side on the bottom of the AFL Ladder.

Carlton Blues vs Sydney Swans

Last Meeting

Round 17 2019, Sydney 8.14 62 – Carlton 9.15 69

(Carlton by 7 Points)

Last 5 Meetings

Carlton – 2 Wins

Sydney – 3 Wins

Last Round

The Blues tried hard in their match against the Giants and lead for the majority of the contest, only to fall short and lose the game by 9 Points.

The Swans all but ended any hope the Demons had of playing finals, and were too good to win by 21 points.

Team Changes

The Blues have made four changes for this clash, with Eddie Betts and Marc Pittonet being managed. Paddy Dow and Cameron Polson have been dropped for the match. Coming into the side is, David Cunningham, Tom De Koning, Matthew Owies (Debut) and Lachie Plowman.

The Swans were happy with their performance last week and have named an unchanged lineup.

Current Head to Head Odds

Carlton – $1.55

Sydney – $2.45

Prediction

Both sides are coming off a five-day break for this clash and the form of the Swans last week, makes it a challenging game to pick. Last time they showed promise, they didn’t back it up and will have their hands full against a competitive Blues outfit.

These sides generally play close, low scoring matches which has been a theme for the Swans this season. The Swans were good last week, but the Demons were very unimpressive which may be taken into account after another loss to Fremantle last night.

In a difficult game to predict, it is always easier to choose the favourite and Cripps, Curnow and the Blues backs, should be too strong in this clash.

Our Pick – Carlton (Win)

Player Prop – Patrick Cripps + 80.5 Fantasy Points

The Swans are ranked above the AFL above for fantasy points conceded to opposition midfielders and Cripps is very effective at stoppages. Should go close to this number and is due for a big game.
