Swans vs Bulldogs, AFL Round 4 2020

Sydney Swans vs Western Bulldogs Round 4

The Swans take on the Bulldogs on Thursday night to kick off Round 4, of the 2020 AFL Season.

In a previous round with a few more upsets, it has been difficult for AFL Tipsters to get any momentum going and that was proven last Saturday Night when the Blues upset the Cats in Geelong.

Australian Football League

The Bulldogs showed some form against an injury Ravaged Giants outfit last week and the Swans impressed against the fancied Kangaroos Side.

Here is a quick AFL Preview for this Thursday Night Football Clash at the SCG between the Swans and the Bulldogs.

Last Week

The Bulldogs came up against a Giants side that had their injury problems and managed to get a much-needed win. They moved the ball well, applied good pressure and proved that they might be back in some good form. Jack Macrae was impressive for the Bulldogs with 25 Possessions in the 4 Goal Win.

The Swans were impressive against a Kangaroos side that has been fancied are after a decent start to the 2020 AFL Season. Some of the Swans more experienced campaigners were very good in this match, and they managed an 11 Point win.

A few team changes with the Swans welcoming back goalsneak Ben Ronke back to their forward line which will be much needed.

A few significant changes for the Bulldogs with the Champion midfielder and ball magnet Josh Dunkley missing through injury. Lin Jong is also injured and Premiership defender, Matt Suckling has been omitted.

Fact – Jack Macrae has averaged 32.7 Possessions per game against the Swans in their last three matchups.

Why the Swans Can Win

The Swans have been surprising so far this season without a couple of their big forwards out through injury. Their more experienced players are getting their hands on the footy and that should continue in this match against the Bulldogs. Their form hasn’t been the best at the SCG in recent times, but they come up against a Bulldogs side without one of it’s best midfielders and may have an advantage at stoppages.

Young forward, Ben Ronke is a welcome addition up forward, and if they do some damage on the scoreboard in the early stages, it will make it tough for the Dogs. They did beat the Dogs quite comfortably the last time they played at the SCG back in 2017.

Why the Bulldogs Can Win

Better form last week, although the Giants lost a couple of players before the bounce and another in the early stages of that match.

The Bulldogs moved the ball well and applied good pressure, and if their big forwards can find a bit of form, they will be dangerous in this match. Marcus Bontempelli copped much attention from the Giants last week, and it will be interesting to see how they protect him this week against the Swans tough midfielders.

Prediction

Both sides looked decent last week, but the Swans are at home, and their veterans are playing good footy.

Our Pick – Sydney Swans (Win)
